Daga Dzong


The place gets its name from the historic Daga Trashiyangtse Dzong which was established in 1651 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel the first man to unify the Bhutan. Dagana Dzongkhag (district) is located in the southern part of the country. It covers an area of about 1389 kilometers, with elevation ranging from 600 meters to 3800 meters above the sea level with a total population estimate of about 25,070 .The dzongkhag (district) shares its border with Thimphu and Chhukha dzongkhag (district) to the West, Wangduephodrang dzongkhag (district) to the north, Tsirang dzongkhag (district) to the East and with India to the South. The dzongkhag (district) falls within the Temperate Zone in the north and the Sub-tropical zone in the south, with hot and wet summer and dry cold winter.
